Quilt Camp at Cedar Lakes has been a long standing event in the Fall - now celebrating more than 40 years!  Many of our campers are regulars, attending year after year to see their friends and take classes from the best teachers in the business. I have been going to Quilt Camp for 10 years. I love it and so does my husband. He can go fishing while I go quilting!! My Mom asked me at one time didn't I already know everything about quilting? I told her there is always something new to learn. So I will be going back to Camp, and having a lot of fun.

I have been an active participant of quilt camp at Cedar Lakes at least 15 times in the last 20 years.  There has never been a moment that I was not happy during those weeks!  And truthfully there has been several years where it was a life saver!!  We all have those years…when things just seem to be harder than we hoped.  A week at Quilt Camp can give you a much needed lift to your spirits!    I have made wall hangings, bed quilts, a coil basket, and even a patchwork denim jacket.  I have also spent some years “doing my own thing”, using the much needed time to finish a UFO or two.  Last year I was able to make a quilt of valor for a friend who retired from the military.  And while all of that should be enough to convince someone to join us, it is the friendships that are the highlight of the week.  I am not a social person and making friends is difficult for me, but at Quilt Camp there are no strangers.  It is amazing the understanding and compassion that quilters have for one another.  I am once again looking forward to a week of no cooking and not cleaning; sewing and laughing and making new friends all thanks to the great creativity and leadership of Linda and Mary our esteemed leaders!  It doesn’t hurt that the location is in the quiet hills of West Virginia!!

Where do I begin, having gone to Quilt Camp with Zapora, then our special Peg Bingham and now Linda and Mary I can only say it just keeps getting better and better.  The friends I have made over the years and look forward to seeing every fall is the best!  There is always a class that you just have to try, always learning new tricks and methods of quilt making!  Can’t wait for this years camp!                                                                     Laura C - Akron, OH
